Imported from France: After we had mated Uschi the first time she developed a Pyometra shortly after mating, she was very seriously ill and we thought she would die, had it not been for the care of our vet she certainly would have. Unfortunatly we had Uschi spayed, this saved her life, most importantly for us was the fact we still had our girl, it would have been nice to have a litter from her as she was part of our future plans, but to us being able to have puppies is a bonus. She is a very special dog, she is a registered therapy dog and has made visits to care homes, hospitals and schools.

In 2008 she was seriously ill while were on holiday in Switzerland, had it not been for a very kind Swiss lady out walking her Westie who we stopped and asked directions to a vet Uschi would have died. The lady told us to follow her in her car and she would take us to her vet, on arrival he was operating and could not help, he telephoned Bern University Veterinary Hospital and told them we were on our way. The lady again went out of her way and took us to Bern where we were met at the door on arrival and Uschi was rushed immediatly to the emergancy unit. We thanked the lady for all her help, she said it was not a problem and hoped that Uschi would be well, unfortunatly we did not get the ladies name. For the second time in her life she was fortunate to have the best care available, this time she was cared for by the expert vets at the University of Bern Veterinary Hospital. They too saved her life, it was a major job getting her back home, she had to be heavily sedated for the trip, now home she is back to normal and another joy to live with.
