Casji (Belgian Import) - Casjimira van't Beertjes Hof of Staubach
Casji was our first import, she came to England when she was ten months old from Belgium, we have only shown her a few times on the continent (see her show results), we had two nice litters from Casji. She has a lovely temperement and is a very happy loving dog, her hips and elbow results are perfect.
Since October 2008 Casji has suffered badly with Diarrhoea, she has constantly been under our vets treatment and had the usual antibiotics etc. We have a very good vet, like us he was becoming very concerned as Casji was losing lots of weight, so recently she spent a few days in our veterinary hospital for tests. The results of the tests showed that she is suffering from an intestinal problem called 'Intestinal Lymphangiectasia', we understand this is not common in the breed, it is not curable but managable, so now Casji is on a special diet. She has and is still a very active dog, the complaint and loss of weight has not debilitated her in any way at all. If anybody has had a dog suffering from the same problem, we would be very interested to hear from you.
9th May 2009 After having to visit our vet this morning with our Belgian female Casji she was admitted for treatment, we knew how seriously ill Casji was as she had been diagnosed with an intestinal disease a few months previously. During late evening we had a few telephone calls from our vet with updates on Casji’s progress, it was not good news and sadly she started to deteriorate quickly. We had given Casji every chance and the vet operated and again called us back, the news was not good for her, the Intestinal disease she was suffering from had advanced and she also had Peritonitis. We informed our vet that if Casji was in any pain and her quality of life was very poor we did not want her to wake up after the anaesthetic, so sadly she was given sleep and rest. We had imported Casji from Belgium, she was the first dog we had imported, she has given us two beautiful litters, she was 6 years 3 months when we had to say goodbye to our lovely girl
